Marriage:
Marriage is very important in everyone's life. It is a milestone that most people want to fulfill in life. For every culture, their are rules to follow. Even in Afghanistan, their ways of marriage are different from ours here in the United States. This is true, however; when war comes, these laws can be broken and things can happen that others don't consider as being right. This always happens when war happens and it has been seen thoughout history. Let's see how war can influence marriages in Afghanistan, a very powerful and important tradition.
In Afghanistan, their tradition of marriage has their own rules, but sometimes war can change those rules:
- Children aren't allowed to marry until the age of 16.
- Marriage means the end of an education.
- During war, women are sometimes forced into marriages without their choice, even though it's against the law.
- Girls from poor families are two times as likely to get married off to someone that can cause them to contract HIV or can be involved in domestic violence.
- Women are forced into marriages by thier tormentor or they would face certian punishment by either hurting the women or by killing them.

This is a girl who was forced into marriage with a spouse she does not love.
In war time, many rights and freedoms are lost. In this case, the womens rights to choose a spouse and if she wants to marry are lost as well. This can be a lifechanging event, a hope or dream for a women, that can be crushed if she gets abused or even murdered by her husband. With that, this shows that the tradition of marriage is broken and that all boundries are vanished, thus giving the right of a male to choose his spouse and what he wants to do to her. This is a very scary topic that comes with the other scary topic of war. Something that no one ever wants to happen.
